Adding & Importing Scripts
We currently provide two methods for hosting scripts in ScriptSeek, each one slightly different than the other.
Import directly from another script hosting service
If you host your scripts on other script services such as CoverFly, Stage32 etc. then we import them directly into ScriptSeek. Importing scripts this way has some pluses and minuses, which are outlined below.
When logging into your new account for the first time, you'll be greeted with a Welcome screen:
Here you are given the option of importing your profile along with your scripts. To continue the import process, click Yes, show me how.
Note: Importing your profile and scripts is only available the first time you access your account, after which you will need to use the second method below to import your scripts going forward. If you need to reset your account to begin the import process again, send us an email to [email protected].
Start the import process
Once the import process is started, choose the script hosting platform/service from the list then enter your profile name.
To get your profile name, login or browse to your profile on the script hosting service. Your profile name is usually the last item in the URL.
Example: For CoverFly, your profile URL will look something like: https://writers.coverfly.com/profile/myprofilename.
Once you've entered your profile name, click Check Profile. If you entered your name correctly, a green checkmark will appear and then you can click Next.
Pros & Cons
There are some tradeoffs when importing scripts using this method.
- Pros: Imports your profile and scripts, including script details such as logline, synopsis and genre.
- Cons: Some hosting platforms do not have covert art/posters for your scripts.
- Cons: Your script PDF files need to be imported manually.
Import using your script PDFs
To import scripts directly from your PDF files, click the Add Scripts button your dashboard:
This will display the following dialog:
Click the highlighted drop zone to open the file dialog, then select your PDF files. Or, drag and drop your PDF files directly into the drop zone.
Your scripts will be displayed along with the status Ready.
Note: PDF files are limited to 3MB in size and must contain at least one scene header (ie INT/EXT) in your script.
Auto generate script details and art work
ScriptSeek can automatically create your logline, synopsis, genre and art work for you. To do this, simply check the two boxes. We understand that not all writers like the idea of A.I generated loglines or synopsis, but you can always edit or remove it later. If you already have your logline and synopsis for each script you need to upload, you can leave these boxes unchecked.
Pros & Cons
There are some tradeoffs when importing scripts using this method.
- Pros: Can auto generate your script details such as logline, synopsis and genre as well as art work if you don't already have any.
- Pros: Imports your PDF unlike the previous method.
- Cons: Takes longer to import scripts.
Complete the import
When ready, click the Upload button. Scripts will automatically be added to your dashboard once the upload process is complete.
Note: Importing using this method takes longer than the previous import method and can take upto 30 minutes to complete, depending on server load.
